On May 5, the first “Chinese Language and Culture Perception” training was held. 23 employees from PT Voksel Electric Tbk (HENGTONG Optic-Electric Co., LTD’s overseas company in Indonesia) participated in the event.Changzhou Institute of Industry Technology (CZIIT) has carefully organized and offered a variety of perception courses, such as Chinese language and culture lectures, Yancheng cultural investigation, tea culture experience and so on.
Professor Zhou Li from School of Overseas Education introduced Chinese pinyin, six categories of Chinese characters, Chinese calligraphy and Chinese idioms with the help of related pictures, videos and stories. “Guan! Guan! Cry the ospreys, on the sandbars in the river. A mild-mannered graceful girl, a fine match for the gentleman.” She made VOKSEL staff feel the beauty of the Book of Songs and pushed the lecture to a climax by playing the video of a famous singer’s singing Guan Ju, her own reciting the lines clearly and emotionally, and arousing listeners’appreciation encouragingly.
There’s a saying in China: “If you want to see remnants of the Sui and Tang dynasties, go to Xi’an. If you want to see the Ming and Qing dynasties, go to Beijing. But to see the Spring and Autumn Period, go to Changzhou’s Yan City.” On the afternoon of May 5th, VOKSEL employees walked into Yancheng Architectural Complex in Spring and Autumn Period, went into Yancheng Museum, and learned about the city from the ancient, quiet and holy historical relics, and felt the civilization of the Spring and Autumn Period.
In the tea culture experience class that follows, Professor Xu Yan from School of Tourism and Culinary Art told VOKSEL employees about the history of Chinese tea culture, the classification of tea, the tea production process and so on, and performed tea art. Under the one-on-one guidance of Professor Xu Yan and dozens of students, VOKSEL employees not only learned how to make green tea and black tea, but also learned how to serve, sip and taste it. They also came to understand some Chinese virtues like golden mean, thrifty, morality, and modesty embodied in tea culture while practicing choosing water repeatedly, cooking tea, and serving tea.
At the final completion ceremony, VOKSEL employees shared what they had gained from the training. In a grand and cheerful atmosphere, the College awarded each trainee a certificate of “Chinese Language and Culture Perception” training. The college’s strong cultural atmosphere, vibrant campus and well-planned perception courses have won unanimous praise from VOKSEL employees.
